When I was growing up it was called a "hobby farm" but that term really doesn't apply any more. See, these days hobby farms are more like sanctuaries than farms. People have hobby farms that are most often used as petting zoos. A homestead, on the other hand, is a place where you raise food and help provide for your family. That's what I do ( Read more... )

I am President of the Lincoln County 4-H Board of Directors. This isn't a huge deal, most days. We meet once a month and talk about fundraising and things that we can do for the kids and community. It's a good gig, really. Help raise money, spend it on kids. Awesome ( Read more... )

Last night Merrill's low temp was -32°! That's not even factoring in wind chill, that's just straight air temp: -32°! Do you know how cold that is? It's so cold that it's almost the same temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit! I think the saying needs to be written "March comes in like a Polar Bear." No, that's not mean enough.
